Laser Treatments For Fast Acne Spot and Scar Removal
Have you ever been frustrated when a bout of acne pops up and you say to yourself – “I thought I was rid of this once I turned twenty?” Unfortunately acne is one of those conditions that can pester you long after your teenage years. Acne is caused by hormones, the food that you eat, stress and more. Our Blue light BBL filter treatments can help start you on a path of clearer, brighter and acne free skin.
BBL™ Acne Treatments and How They Work
Sciton BBL Blue Light (420nm) acne treatments treat the heart of acne lesions, the bacteria that causes the acne in the first place. The Blue Light painlessly destroys the bacteria that causes acne and allows faster healing of the skin. A series of laser acne treatments are delivered twice a week for a period of weeks. Your technician will recommend the correct duration of your treatment based on your skin’s condition.
What is acne?
Acne, commonly known as “pimples,” is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the sebaceous glands present in the skin. In mild to moderate cases, there may be black heads (comedones), white heads (milia), pustules (also commonly called white heads) and papules (one stage before puss formation). In severe cases, there are nodules, cysts and abscesses which can lead to scarring if not treated properly.
Does acne occur only in teenagers?
Acne is more common in the age group of 13 – 30 years but it may occur or persist even beyond this age group. Males are more frequently affected than females.
Does it work on all types of acne?
BBL acne phototherapy works on mild to severe inflammatory acne and is ideal for treating the redness associated with mild to moderate acne and cystic acne.
How many treatments are required?
Results are seen within three to four weeks. A typical treatment regimen consists of 4 treatments over a 4 week period. Each treatment takes about 10-15 minutes.
Does it hurt?
Most guests would describe it as a warm, tingling sensation and not painful. No topical anesthesia or medication is required. These are gradual, relatively painless, fast treatments.
What can I expect after my treatment?
The skin may be pink or slightly red. There may be some mild swelling and temporary tenderness along the jaw line. You may be quite red after your treatment, however we give all of our guests a Colorescience application so you never leave looking like you have had a treatment.
How long is a session?
Each session takes approx. 20-30 minutes depending on the area.
What areas can be treated?
Anywhere there is active acne.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
BBL Acne treatments can be combined with many other procedures such as BBL for Photorejuvenation, Microneedling and Microdermabrasion.
Acne and Acne Scar Removal with our Fotona
Fotona offers a laser acne treatment protocol that provides a truly comprehensive solution to the problem of acne. Fotona’s precisely controlled Nd:YAG laser light safely penetrates into skin to effectively target overactive sebaceous glands and to reduce the risk of developing new acne inflammation.
For improving the appearance of acne scars, Fotona offers a complementary laser treatment based on a precise and gentle skin resurfacing procedure in which an Er:YAG laser beam is absorbed by the top micro-layers of the skin to vaporize scarred tissue and stimulate the production of new collagen in the dermis.
Fast results, Without Side-Effects
For active acne, Fotona’s laser treatment reduces acne inflammation through photoselective absorption and controlled heating effects. Fotona’s high powered Nd:YAG laser safely penetrates the skin to an optimal treatment depth to thermally and selectively destroy overactive sebaceous glands.
In addition to its thermal penetration effects, the Nd:YAG acne laser treatment also accelerates the healing process and stimulates collagen remodeling, an important step in the long-term treatment of acne.
Gentle & Effective Acne Scar Revision
For treating problematic acne scars, Fotona’s Er:YAG laser wavelength is ideal for gentle ablative scar revision. The Er:YAG laser safely and effectively provides the minimal penetration depth required for light resurfacing of acne-scarred skin, helping to improve skin texture and tone. Unlike chemical peels and dermabrasion, laser skin resurfacing allows the penetration depth to be precisely controlled. The laser gently vaporizes micron-thin layers of the acne-scarred surface to reveal healthy, undamaged skin below. Laser resurfacing is a fast, safe and simple procedure.

Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing takes less time and allows penetration of the skin layers to be more controlled than in some other methods. Because only small “fractions” of the skin’s surface are treated, laser resurfacing results in less downtime and an easier recovery. Results from treatment with the Fraxel are dramatic and may take four to six visits to achieve desired results.
Laser Acne & Blemish Treatment
Developments in laser technology now offer a breakthrough in the treatment of active acne and acne scarring. Lasers can penetrate the skin without causing any injury and work to heat up the sebaceous glands, which are often responsible for causing acne breakout.

Dermabrasion And Microdermabrasion For Acne Removal
Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion sand the skin to make way for new skin. They create controlled skin damage involving the deeper layers of the skin. The resulting wound heals scars by replacing scarred skin with skin that is cosmetically superior to what was there originally. The conditions that seem to respond best to this approach include acne scarring, traumatic scars, rhinophyma (nose enlargement in rosacea), wrinkles, and tattoo removal.
Dermabrasion is one of the most effective and common treatments for facial scars. While it uses the same general principle as the microdermabrasion kits you can do at home, healthcare providers use a wire brush or a wheel to more deeply exfoliate the top layer of the skin.
Best for: Scars close to the surface like shallow boxcar or rolling scars. However, deeper scars may also become less noticeable.
Microneedling Treatments For Acne Scar Removal And Spot Removal
This newer treatment uses a small, handheld, needle-studded roller or handheld “pen” on the surface of the scars. The needles puncture the numbed skin — but don’t go through it like a shot! As the skin heals, it makes collagen.
There’s evidence to suggest that microneedling helps reduce the depth of acne scars, but this treatment can take up to 9 months to see changes according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Outside of the slight fear factor, it’s a safe treatment that works for all skin tones.
Best for: Depressed acne scars.
