Treating Eye Wrinkles

Are you starting to notice crow’s feet and fine lines forming around your eyes? Whether you call them ‘laugh lines’ or ‘character lines’, there’s one thing for certain: as soon as they become visible, you just want them to disappear!
Your body contains different types of skin, and unfortunately the skin around your eyes just happens to be the thinnest. Think about how easy it is to damage and wrinkle tissue paper; this is comparable to the skin around your eyes. Therefore, it’s the first part of your body to show the signs of aging.
While you may know that your face requires different products than your body, you may not realize that the skin around the eyes has its’ own requirements as well. Because this area is privy to fine lines and wrinkles, you need to use the right products to help firm and hydrate this sensitive area. Here are a few things you can start incorporating into your daily regime and start minimizing the appearance of eye wrinkles immediately.

Cleanse
Most cleansers are not gentle enough for your eyes and can irritate the skin due to their alkaline content. You also want to avoid using store-bought soaps as they may contain lards or fats that can block pores or cause dryness. We recommend using a fragrance-free gentle cleanser like the ones we carry from R3Derma. These lightly remove dirt to clean and nourish delicate areas around the eyes.

Resist
Many of us rub our eyes without even realizing it. Remember that tissue paper? Rubbing it profusely would cause it to wrinkle in no time, and the same can be said about the skin around you eyes. Whenever possible, try to keep your fingers away from this area of your face and always make sure to pat your eyes gently when drying instead of tugging at them with a towel.

Moisturize
Since the skin around your eyes has little fat, it’s important to use an eye cream that not only moisturizes, but strengthen and firms. Look for products that promote collagen and elastin production like Enrich Plus or the Colorescience Anti-Aging Serum.
Another great product from Colorescience is Total Eye Care. Containing a tri-peptide formula in a liquid crystal base, a few strokes around the eye helps to increase the appearance of firmness and reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This can also be used around the mouth, which is another trouble spot for the signs of aging.

Protect
Sunscreen should be a vital component of your daily regime. Even if it’s raining and cloudy outside, the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays are still present and can penetrate the skin, which can then causes fine lines to occur.  We offer a wide selection of Colorescience Sunforgettable products that double as both protection and make-up. To find out which shade best matches your skin tone, feel free ask our medical estheticians for help.

Sleep
There’s a reason they call it ‘beauty rest’. Your body uses this time to repair damaged skin cells. Therefore, the most shut-eye you get, the more you’re allowing your body to naturally prevent and fight the signs of aging.

Skin Tightening
For those stubborn lines we offer Skin Tightening services which are extremely effective, especially in the early stages of skin aging. Using the skin tightening (ST) module on the Sciton Profile Broad Band Light machine, pulses of light and energy reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. ST’s prolonged heating action penetrates to the collagen and causes it to contract and tighten it.
