Microneedling Clinic in Vancouver
Experience the microneedling advantage.
Not many people get out of puberty without a bit of acne. We all got through those hard teenage years by telling ourselves, “Someday I’ll be older and my skin will be flawless.”
For some people, that dream comes true. For others, while the acne eventually goes away, they are left with acne scars, yet another thing to feel self-conscious about.
Beyond acne scars, other people have scars from injuries or surgeries that they feel embarrassed by.
Of course, the phrase ‘scarred for life’ has made us all believe that once you have a scar, you’ll always have it. And while it’s true there are no magic pills or potions that can make a scar suddenly and fully disappear, there are treatments that can significantly lighten scars. One such treatment is microneedling.
What is Microneedling?
As the name implies, microneedling for scars is a treatment that uses tiny needles to penetrate the skin. This process naturally stimulates collagen production, thereby improving the appearance and elasticity of the skin.
We know what you’re thinking, the idea of poking a bunch of tiny holes in the skin sounds a bit weird, if not painful, but it is a safe and pain-free way to treat scars. In fact microneedling is known as one of the most effective therapies available for reducing the appearance of scars.
How Does Microneedling Work Exactly?
The treatment is simple, quick and our clients report minimal if any discomfort.
The typical session may start with a numbing cream being applied to the area that is being treated. After the cream has been allowed to begin working, the technician will move a handheld device across your skin. This device contains fine needles, which will gently create tiny holes on the surface of your skin.
This process puts your body into a natural healing phase, increasing the production of elastin and collagen in your skin. The increased levels give your skin a smoother, plumper more youthful appearance.
In the case of scarring, the natural healing process breaks down old scar tissue and helps new skin to form, which naturally fades scars over time. Our Practitioners also use microneedling to treat skin discoloration, fade stretch marks, fix fine lines and tighten sagging skin.
Compared to chemical peels, micro needling scar removal is safer, causes less damage to the skin, and requires no down time for recovery. You can return home or go back to work right after leaving our office.
According to a study, scarring was reduced in patients by one or two grades in 34 out of 36 subjects using microneedling. And, no individuals reported any negative side effects.
Is Microneedling For Scars Right for You?
When you look at the studies and the anecdotal evidence, it’s hard not to want to give microneedling for acne scars or microneedling for surgery scars a try. Particularly if you’ve been living with scars that make you feel self-conscious.
Microneedling is also one of a very few cosmetic procedures that works on all skin types and colors. And, when you compare it to other scar removal treatments, it’s safe for people of all ages, even teenagers.
Microneedling is commonly used to treat:
• Burn scars
• Acne scars
• Surgical scars
How much does microneedling for scars cost?
The price is dependent on the area and area size of the body being treated. Complimentary consultations are done prior to any treatment, at this time the Technician will assess the cost as well as how many treatments are needed. Scars do soften after as little as one treatment however 3-5 or more treatments are often needed to see significant results. It depends on the type of scar you are having treated.
Cautions
Putting your skin in the healthiest state possible will help to minimize/remove any complications. There are holes being put into the skin and when unhealthy products are applied after treatments – those unhealthy ingredients can actually get into the deeper layers and cause infection or adverse reactions.
When our guests come in for a consultation we have them bring everything they put on their face in order to check for unhealthy or dangerous ingredients and give them the list of all the ingredients that cannot be used. If their products are not healthy – we either won’t treat them or recommend healthier products.
