How many times have you vowed to start wearing more colour, yet your wardrobe keeps getting replenished with the same ol’ GBW (grey, black, and white). We know that it can be daunting choosing colours for your skin tone, especially when you’re unsure of how to choose which will flatter or which will flaw. But now that the sun has officially starting making regular appearances, it’s time to mix-up those fifty shades of grey.

Colours for your Skin Tone: Which Season Are You?


Winter:  Choosing colours for your skin tone for people with dark or Asian skin tones, as well as those with very pale skin and dark hair fall into the winter category. Winters look best in navy blue, bright pinks, deep reds, or jewel tones like emerald, royal blue or royal purple. They also look great in pastels.

Summer:  Choosing colours for your skin tone if you have fair, pale, or pinkish skin, ash, or natural blonde hair, and light eyes, then you have summer skin tones. People that fall within this season have little contrast between eye, hair and skin color. Colours for your skin tone include pastels, neutrals, and muted colors look best, such as lavender, rose, mauve, pale yellow, and light blue.
Colors to avoid include black and orange. These tend to be too harsh on the skin tone and will drown out your complexion.

Autumn: Choosing colours for you skin tone for people with light golden skin, red or brown hair, and brown eyes are Autumns. This category also tends to burn easily in the sun. When you think of colours to wear, just think of your season. In other words, Fall colours like caramel, beige, burnt orange, gold, dark reds, olive, ivory, camel and rich brown.
Colours to avoid include pink, bright colours, and black or white, as these will make you look faded.

Spring: Choosing colours for your skin tone if you have blonde, auburn, or strawberry blonde hair and clear light blue or green eyes, you have Spring tones. The difference between Spring and Autumn tones is that Spring has light eyes while Autumn has dark. Freckles and rosy cheeks are seen in Springs as well. The best colours to wear are pale, soft colors like ivory, peach, true reds, clear blues, camel, light pink, coral, golden yellow, golden brown, aqua and bright greens.
Colours to avoid are dark, dull colors like black, brown, and beige.
